The Person Behind the Commits

Portrait of Clinford Jordano Valencia

Senior Software Engineer with 8+ years in global fintech and travel, working from frontend platforms to data pipelines. I build telemetry, developer tooling and full-stack systems, and I like closing the gap between a fast interface and a resilient backend.

I’m Clinford, a Senior Software Engineer. I joined Traveloka in 2018 as a Software Engineer (Web) and spent almost seven years there, growing from building partner-facing products to leading frontend modernization and web performance work for millions of users.

Since March 2025 I’ve been at Binance, working on global identity verification: native NFC integrations, a real-time telemetry platform, and schema-driven, Git-backed configuration. I use AI where it saves real time, such as incident triage and exploring unfamiliar code.

I started out teaching: before software was my job, I was a teaching assistant and lab coordinator at BINUS University. I still mentor on ADPList, where I was a Top 100 mentor in late 2024 and early 2025, and I give talks on web performance.

How I Work

  1. 01

    Clarity over cleverness

Simple systems are easier to trust, change and hand over.

  2. 02

    Ship, measure, refine

Small releases, honest metrics, steady improvement.

  3. 03

    Craft is a feature

Performance, accessibility and detail are part of the product, not polish.

Experience

    Senior Frontend Engineer

    Binance

Global identity verification and compliance products: eKYC, native NFC integrations, telemetry and developer tooling.

    • Led frontend architecture and delivery of eKYC and native NFC integrations; global KYC pass rates rose by up to 17.5 percentage points.
    • Built Signal, a multi-tenant real-time telemetry platform, and cut the time to detect incidents from days to under 5 minutes.
    • Designed schema-driven, Git-backed configuration so regulatory updates ship without code deployments.
    • Introduced AI-assisted workflows for requirements analysis, codebase exploration and incident triage, reducing development and triage cycle times by 70–80%.
    • Built automated testing infrastructure and self-service operational tools that removed routine manual interventions.
    • TypeScript
    • React

      • Cut local build time by up to 64.18%, memory usage by about 49.15% and vulnerabilities per audited package by about 42.2%, and made test results consistent locally and in CI.
      • Mentored junior team members and spoke at DevFest Jakarta 2023 on Core Web Vitals and INP.
    2. Software Engineer III (Web)Sep 2021 – Dec 2022

      • Subject matter expert for the Accommodation Supply subdomain, on both the technical and product sides.
      • Managed the frontend project timeline with the domain lead so product work shipped on time, and supported end-to-end frontend development in the subdomain.
      • Received the Traveloka Grit Award in January 2022 and spoke at Google I/O Extended Jakarta 2022.
    3. Software Engineer II (Web)Mar 2020 – Aug 2021

      • Frontend person in charge for the Supply (Direct Sourcing and Business Operations) mission teams.
      • Engineering person in charge of the Messaging Platform project, a React Native app with real-time WebSocket channels and GraphQL.
      • Contributed to and maintained District, an internal tool for the mobile app.
    4. Software Engineer I (Web)May 2018 – Feb 2020

      • Built and maintained the TERA website for accommodation partners with React, Next.js, TypeScript and Redux, and its React Native app for Android and iOS.
